Freedom is an unincorporated community in Indiana which can be found along U.S. Route 231, southwest of the city of Spencer.  It is small, quiet and safe but also close to towns like Bloomington which has many amenities, schools, shops and restaurants.  In addition, it is not far from Indianapolis where there is an airport, countless museums, events and 2 pro athletic teams.  The seasonal weather means that you can enjoy all that each season has to offer.

If you are looking to get out and enjoy the sunshine and greenery that make the Midwest so special in the spring and fall, then make the short trip to Bloomington. There is a lovely, fun downtown area with shops, restaurants and more and the B-Line walking trail. In addition, Bloomington’s Community Farmers' Market is open at city hall each Saturday morning in the warmer months (April through October).  You will enjoy your time there and can feel good about where your money is going.  Purchasing from a farmers’ market is great way to support local business and get delightful, fresh reasonable prices. If you feel like making a slightly longer drive to Indiana, you will find the Indianapolis Cultural Trail which connects the city's five downtown Cultural Districts. This beautiful and convenient trail features benches, bike racks, lighting, bike rentals/drop-offs, and local artwork making it a great way to get some exercise and see the city.

If you or your child is interested in finding a school for higher education, then this is a great area to explore.  Spend a cool, fall day to checking out the wide array of learning opportunities in this part of the Midwest.  Indianapolis is the home to Butler UniversityIndiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), Ivy Tech Community College of IndianaMarian University, Martin UniversityThe Art Institute of Indianapolis and University of Indianapolis… and more. In addition, Bloomington is worth a visit for prospective students. It is not a large town like Indianapolis but it is buzzing with the electricity of a learning community. This town is the home of the Indiana University School of Education, Indiana University School of Public and Environmental AffairsIndiana University Maurer School of LawJacobs School of Music, the Kelley School of Business, the Kinsey Institute (and more!) can all be found within this lovely community.
